New Translation Management Feature in the Upcoming Version of DITAToo: Search for Translations

DITAToo version 1.8 is getting traction and receiving a very good feedback from our customers, but we are already working on the next version! We were listening to you very carefully and decided to add a feature that will allow you to search for translations.

This is a sketch of the new dialog box (the UI will likely change a little bit, but you can get an idea) that you can use to find:

  • Topics, which are not translated to a specific language
  • Topics, which are already translated to a specific language
  • Topics, which are translated to a specific language, but require update because the source was modified
  • Topics, which are translated to a specific language and updated after the source was modified
  • Topics, which are currently downloaded for translation and locked from any modifications

After you clicked Ok, DITAToo will show you in the search pane the topics that satisfy the criteria you selected. Now you can do whatever you can always do with search results. For example, you can search for all topics that are translated to Dutch, but require update. In the search pane, you can select the displayed topics, download them, and send to your translation agency.

How does that sound?

In my next posts, I’ll share with you some more improvements we are doing in translation management. Stay tuned!
